FINALLY....

We are buying a house! We have found a house that we are excited about. The owners of the previous house we were hoping to purchase were able to do a home loan modification with the bank so it was withdrawn from the MLS. After waiting more than 5 months for that house we were really disappointed. So, we started looking even harder for that ever elusive "perfect house".

We are purchasing a brand new home (well, it was built in 2007, but it hasn't been lived in) that should be able to last us for a very long time. It is 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms with a main floor master. It has a big backyard that will need to be finished, but when it is done, there will be plenty of room for the kids to play.

We will be closing on or before June 10th and are very excited to have this 6-7+ month home search over with!

A new luxury to wish for...

I love taking baths. I love to be completely submerged (okay, except my head) in hot water. I like to let the water cool, and then, depending on how good the book is (because EVERYONE knows taking a bath is always better while reading a good book), let the water out and do it all over again. Now, I have it on good authority that I am not the only person who does this, so those of you that don't agree, don't think I'm sharing all my crazy with you! Anyway, most bath tubs just aren't deep enough, too long, too short, or just aren't comfortable. If only there were something better...

I have found such a beautiful and desirous item. It would have been better for me to have never seen such a thing because my "dream house" just got about $12,000 more expensive. Yes. Just a small amount of money for this. At least I can have it in my dreams!

A matter of perspective

Brody and I were outside on Saturday enjoying the last day of warmth before the snow hit again. We were playing on the playground, and I started pulling weeds. Brody was being a big helper and making a pile of weeds at the edge of the playground. He was getting a little bored of walking ALL the way to the pile so he started throwing the weeds. There are rocks in the playground too, so of course he was picking up both weeds and rocks. After a couple of rocks had hit the fence I told Brody not to throw the rocks, just take them to the pile. He replied, "I'm not throwing rocks mommy, they're crashing." Silly mommy, what was I thinking?!!

Update on Seth

Seth did really well during his exam. The doctor said everything looks good and that he believes his original diagnoses of Coloboma was correct, and that the Coloboma would not impair his vision. He does want to check Seth again in a year, just to make sure everything has stayed the same, but it will only be an office visit, not another exam under anesthesia.

I'm so relieved. I really didn't think anything was going to be wrong with his eyes, but I was so worried about how he would do with the anesthesia. He came out of it really quickly though. The discharge nurse couldn't believe how well he was doing.

Seth's eyes

One night shortly after Seth was born, I was at my friend's house. She mentioned to me that one of Seth's eyes had a dark spot in it. I hadn't noticed it before, at least if I had noticed it, I didn't think it was anything to worry about. At one of Seth's well child check-ups I mentioned it to the pediatrician and she sent us to see a pediatric ophthalmologist.

The doctor at Primary Children's Hospital checked Seth's eyes, and said that it looked like the problem was only with the iris, but he does have a Coloboma. (If you don't want to look at the link, coloboma is where part of the eye didn't form properly.) The doctor thought it would be prudent of him to further exam Seth under anesthesia to make sure that his initial diagnosis was correct.

So, this Wednesday we will be taking Seth to Primary Children's to have the surgery done. I'll update as soon as we know more, but I'm hoping there won't be any more problems.
